SocialScheduler vs Postiz
Postiz is an open-source social media scheduler (AGPL-3.0) that you can self-host for free or use as Postiz Cloud from $29 a month. SocialScheduler is a hosted tool for agencies: AI plans and writes each client's week, clients approve by email, and a report goes out every Monday.
The best Postiz alternative for an agency is one that does the weekly work, not just the posting. Postiz is a strong open-source scheduler: 34 platforms, a public API, and cloud plans from $29 to $99 a month by channel. SocialScheduler plans and writes each client's week, gets client approval by email link and sends a Monday report. For 5 clients with 15 accounts, both cost $49 a month.
Which one to choose
Pick Postiz if you want to own the code and the server, need Farcaster, Nostr, VK or Medium, or want the lowest price per channel and are happy to write the posts yourself. Pick SocialScheduler if you run several clients and want the week planned, approved and reported without doing each step by hand.

What Postiz is best at
Postiz is a scheduler built for people who like to own their tools. The code is on GitHub under AGPL-3.0, it runs on your own server with Docker Compose, and a self-hosted install has no plan limits and no channel cap. The hosted version, Postiz Cloud, runs the same app with the developer apps already registered.
Its reach is wide: 34 platforms, including networks few tools touch, such as Farcaster, Nostr, VK, Medium and Tumblr. Developers get a public API, webhooks, an n8n node, Make and Zapier, plus an MCP server and CLI so an AI agent can schedule posts. The composer handles threads, per-network edits, AI images and video, and clipping a long YouTube video into short vertical clips.
- Best fit: developers, indie makers and technical teams who write their own posts.
- Best price per channel of any tool we compare: 100 channels for $99 a month.
Where agencies hit its limits
Postiz publishes what you schedule and drafts what you ask for. An agency still has to plan each client's week, write or prompt every post, chase sign-off and build the report. Those are the hours that grow with each new client.
Client work is organized with customer groups, which filter the calendar per client. Approval runs through a public preview link where the client can comment, but there is no approved state, so someone has to read the comments and move each draft to scheduled. Analytics cover 10 of the 34 platforms, and its docs describe no scheduled report that goes to the client. There is no inbox for comments or DMs.
Self-hosting adds its own work: Postgres, Redis and Temporal to run and upgrade, and a developer app to register for each network, which for Meta, TikTok and LinkedIn means their own app reviews.
Pricing math for an agency with 5, 10 or 15 clients
Postiz charges by channel. SocialScheduler charges by client. Assuming three accounts per client, here is what each costs on monthly billing, checked September 2026:
- 5 clients, 15 accounts: Postiz Pro $49 (Team stops at 10 channels). SocialScheduler Business $49.
- 10 clients, 30 accounts: Postiz Pro $49. SocialScheduler Agency $149.
- 15 clients, 45 to 60 accounts: Postiz Ultimate $99. SocialScheduler Agency $149.
- Self-hosted Postiz: no license fee, but a server with 4 GB of RAM or more and your time to run it.
- SocialScheduler Business includes 400 AI credits. A planned week costs 10, so 5 clients use about 220 a month. Publishing never costs credits.
Questions people ask.
Is Postiz free?
The self-hosted version is free and open source, you pay only for the server. Postiz Cloud has no free plan: it starts at $29 a month after a 7-day trial. SocialScheduler has a free plan for 1 client with 3 accounts and 20 AI credits a month.
Is Postiz open source?
Yes. Postiz is published on GitHub under the AGPL-3.0 license and can be self-hosted with Docker Compose or Kubernetes. SocialScheduler is not open source and is hosted only.
How much does Postiz cost?
Postiz Cloud costs $29 a month for 5 channels, $39 for 10, $49 for 30 and $99 for 100, with about 20% off yearly. Posts are unlimited on every plan. Checked September 2026.
Does Postiz have approval workflows?
It has a public preview link per post where a client can comment without a login. There is no approved state, so you move each draft to scheduled yourself. In SocialScheduler the client approves, comments or asks for a change from an email link, and approved posts go out on their own.
Does Postiz have a social inbox?
No. Postiz does not collect comments or DMs, and its agent cannot reply to comments. SocialScheduler has an inbox for Instagram, Facebook, Threads, X, YouTube and Bluesky, with keyword rules for auto-replies and lead magnets by DM.
Is Postiz good for agencies?
It is good for agencies that write their own posts and want many channels for little money, since 100 channels cost $99 a month. Agencies that want planning, client approval by email and weekly client reports done for them will do that work by hand in Postiz.
Is SocialScheduler cheaper than Postiz?
At 5 clients with 15 accounts, both cost $49 a month. Above that Postiz is cheaper per channel: 15 clients cost $99 on Postiz Ultimate and $149 on SocialScheduler Agency. The SocialScheduler price includes the AI that plans, writes and reports each week.
Can I self-host SocialScheduler like Postiz?
No. SocialScheduler is hosted in Germany and uses official network APIs only. If self-hosting is a requirement, Postiz is the better choice.
Does SocialScheduler have an API like Postiz?
Not yet. It has an MCP connector so your own Claude or ChatGPT can read and plan for every client. A public API with webhooks is on the roadmap.
Can I move from Postiz to SocialScheduler?
Yes. Let your Postiz queue finish or delete what you will replace, connect each client's accounts, paste a short brief and choose who approves. There is nothing to import: the agent plans a fresh week from the brief and the accounts' history.
