How to use it

  1. 1Describe the person or brand: what they do, for whom, where, and one fact that proves it.
  2. 2Pick the platform, a tone and a language. LinkedIn bios come without emojis.
  3. 3Generate five bios, copy the one that sounds like you, and check its length against the platform limit.

What a good bio needs

A bio has one job: tell a new visitor in two seconds whether this profile is for them. Most strong bios answer five things in a small space.

You rarely fit all five in 150 characters. Pick the three that matter most for the account, and let the link carry the rest. The generator writes each of its five bios from one of these angles, so you can compare them side by side.

  • Who: the name or role, if the display name does not already say it
  • What: the product or service, in the words your customers use
  • Proof: a number, a place, a credential or a customer type
  • Call to action: one thing to do next, such as book, shop or read
  • Link: where that action happens, set in the profile's link field

Bio character limits by platform (checked September 2026)

Every character counts toward the limit: letters, spaces, punctuation, line breaks and emojis. Some emojis, like flags or skin-tone variants, count as more than one. The generator aims every bio under 150 characters, so check the result against the platform before you paste it.

  • Instagram: 150 characters
  • Threads: 150 characters, and it can import your Instagram bio
  • TikTok: 80 characters on most accounts; some accounts now see a longer field, so trust the counter in Edit profile
  • X: 160 characters, plus separate name, location and website fields
  • LinkedIn: headline 220 characters (about 60 to 70 show in search), About section 2,600
  • Facebook Page: 255 characters for the Page bio; a personal profile intro allows 101
  • Pinterest: 500 characters in the profile About
  • YouTube: 1,000 characters in the channel description

Bio examples by business type

The same business needs a different bio on each network. Here are three fictional businesses, with a slash (/) marking a line break. Character counts include spaces and emojis.

  • Acme Coffee, Instagram (100): Small-batch coffee roasted in Portland β˜• / Roasted Tuesday, shipped by Friday / Free shipping over $40 ↓
  • Acme Coffee, TikTok (70): Coffee roasted Tuesday, at your door by Friday. Small-batch, Portland.
  • Acme Coffee, LinkedIn headline (136): Head roaster at Acme Coffee | Small-batch specialty coffee for home brewers and 40+ cafes in Oregon | Roasted Tuesday, shipped by Friday
  • Harbor Physio, Instagram (102): Physical therapy for runners in Denver πŸƒ / Back on the trail without guesswork / Book a free 15-min call ↓
  • Harbor Physio, TikTok (45): Physio for runners. Denver. Free 15-min call.
  • Brightline Bookkeeping, Instagram (89): Bookkeeping for restaurants and cafes / Month closed in 10 days, not 30 / Free books review ↓
  • Brightline Bookkeeping, X (52): Bookkeeper for restaurants. Books closed in 10 days.

Emojis and line breaks on each platform

Emojis work as visual bullets and save words, but each one uses characters you could spend on proof. Line breaks make a bio scannable on Instagram and TikTok, where people read it on a phone.

LinkedIn is the exception. The headline is a single line, and the generator writes LinkedIn bios without emojis. Use a vertical bar or a comma to separate ideas there. The About section does allow line breaks, so use short paragraphs. On X, a bio reads best as one or two short sentences. Facebook, Pinterest and YouTube descriptions are read more like a short paragraph, so emojis there are optional.

The tool never adds hashtags. If you want a branded hashtag in an Instagram bio, add it yourself; it becomes a tappable link.

Writing bios for many clients

This free bio generator writes for one profile at a time, from what you type into the box. Agencies that manage many brands usually need the bio to match the rest of the account's voice.

In SocialScheduler, each client has a brief. The AI plans the client's week, writes each post in that voice for 20 networks, and publishes at the hours the audience is online. The Free plan covers one client and three accounts.

Questions about this tool.

What is the best AI bio generator?

The best one is the one that writes to the platform you post on. This tool is free, needs no account, returns five bios per run in 10 languages, and keeps each bio under 150 characters so it fits Instagram, Threads and X.

Is this AI bio generator free?

Yes. There is no sign-up and no login. A fair-use cap of 20 runs per 10 minutes per visitor is shared with the caption and hashtag generators.

How many characters can an Instagram bio have?

150 characters, including spaces, line breaks and emojis. Threads uses the same 150-character limit.

What should I put in my Instagram bio?

Say what you do and who it is for in the first line, add one piece of proof, and end with a call to action that points to your profile link. Skip anything the display name already says.

What is the character limit for a TikTok bio?

80 characters on most accounts. Some accounts now see a longer bio field, so the counter in Edit profile is the final word. Pick the shortest of the five bios, or trim one, for TikTok.

Can it write a LinkedIn headline?

Yes. Pick LinkedIn and describe the role, the audience and one result. You get five lines under 150 characters without emojis, which fits the 220-character headline and keeps the key words in the part shown in search.

Can I use emojis in my bio?

Yes on Instagram, TikTok, Threads and X, where they work as visual bullets. They count toward the character limit. The generator leaves them out of LinkedIn bios.

How do I add a link to my Instagram bio?

Go to Edit profile, then Links, and add up to five external links. A URL typed into the bio text is not clickable.

Can I generate a bio in another language?

Yes. Choose Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, Turkish or Russian, and all five bios come back in that language.

How often should I update my bio?

Whenever the offer changes: a new product, a new location, a seasonal promotion. Otherwise a review every few months keeps the proof and the call to action current.
